Throttle Nation Top Speed Streetbike Challenge

UPDATE: September 22, 2010 – Throttle Nation is proud to announce that Dragon Rider Jackets has been added as the Title Sponsor for the Throttle Nation Streetbike Challenge and ScorpionEXO and Motul have also come on board as Main Sponsors. All of the sponsors are bringing fantastic products to the event for each of our class winners!

Have you ever noticed how fast your buddies claim to be on their sport bike? Just like you we also get bombarded with crazy claims of how fast everyone goes (at home) or on the streets. Of course factory speedometers are way overstated but perhaps not as much as the claims of the typical rider. These days everybody claims to go 200mph or better but few actually do.

Now is the time to lay down an official speed at the Maxton Monster Mile and claim the title as one of the fastest streetbikes in America. Throttle Nation has joined the East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) to host the 5th annual competition to crown the fastest bikes in America. We have six classes of bikes all competing in heads up racing on Sept 25-26th, 2010. In the past we have had speeds in excess of 259mph so you better bring your A-Game and about 600hp if you expect to be competitive in the unlimited turbo class.

The classes for the event are simple and cover most modern sportbikes made today. Motorcycles MUST meet the ECTA Safety requirements as well and riders MUST wear leathers and safety gear.

Classes

650cc

Any engine displacement that can be obtained from a production set of motorcycle engine cases and made for a bike that originally had under 650cc. For example, a GSXR600 can be bored and or stroked as far as you are mechanically able and it will still be allowed to compete in the 650cc class. This also means that 750cc engines or 1000cc engines can not be installed into 650cc frames. The bikes frame must be from an original 650cc bike. No Power adders allowed.

1000cc

Any engine displacement that can be obtained from a production set of motorcycle engine cases and made for a bike that originally had under 1000cc. For example, a ZX-10R can be bored and or stroked as far as you are mechanically able and it will still be allowed to compete in the 1000cc class. This also means that 1200cc engines or larger can not be installed into 1000cc frames. The bike’s frame must be from an original 1000cc bike. No Power adders.

1000cc Power Adder

Same as above, but ONE power adder will be allowed. Nitrous, Turbo or Supercharger. Only ONE.

Naturally Aspirated Unlimited cc

Any production based motorcycle can be used with no limits on engine displacement.

Unlimited cc Turbo

Same as above, but turbos will be allowed.

Unlimited cc Nitrous

Nitrous Unlimited cc motorcycle with nitrous.

In addition to meeting all ECTA rules the bikes will also have to comply with our own street based rules also and you will have to be a member of the ECTA. Motorcycles MUST meet the ECTA Safety requirements as well and riders MUST wear leathers and safety gear. More info can be found here on joining the ECTA.

Rules

1. All bikes must have a 2010 tag in your state and the tag must be shown to registration as requested. ECTA safety rules will not allow the tag to be on the bike but we will ask to see it. We will require you to present your registration paperwork. If you are a licensed dealer and the dealership owns the bike, you must present your dealership license, dealer tag, and be prepared to show that the owner of the dealership is the rider.

2. The bike must have a working headlight and tail light.

3. The bike must be ridden by the registered owner from Rule #1. This means NO JOCKEYS.

4. All bikes must comply with MPS, APS, P/P or P/PS classes from the ECTA rule book. This basically means everything is allowed except streamliners.

We look forward to seeing all the courageous Speed Demons at the event!
